Barry Reaves, a seasoned Diversity Practitioner, currently holds the position of Vice President of DEIJ/Workforce Development and Environmental Justice at the Northeast Clean Energy Council (NECEC). In this capacity, he serves as a strategic leader and advisor, playing a pivotal role in guiding NECEC’s mission to spearhead the just, equitable, and swift transition to a clean energy future and a diverse climate economy across New England and New York. His impactful work directly contributes to the achievement of NECEC’s mission, ensuring that diversity, equity, inclusion, and workforce development are not just buzzwords but integral parts of the clean energy industry’s growth and transformation.
Barry’s role at NECEC as a provider of DEIJ and Workforce development solutions encompasses many sectors within the clean energy industry. His expertise spans the spectrum from energy efficiency and demand response to renewable energy, combined heat and power, energy storage, fuel cells, advanced and ‘smart’ technologies, and more. Notably, he has led several key initiatives that have significantly advanced NECEC’s mission and demonstrated his practical application of DEIJ and workforce development solutions.
Barry is a Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute graduate, the leading Department of Defense school in Diversity and Inclusion, Equal opportunity, and equal employment opportunity training, education, and research. He served in the U.S. Army for 18 years and has a deep background in diverse leadership development, diversity and inclusion programming, analytics, and effectiveness. Barry is also a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE) and an Executive Certified Diversity Coach (ECDC).
